Since my first trip to Japan in 2008 I had steadily been influenced by its culture and environment. I had taken to using flowers frequently in my work at that time—especially in personal pieces—and attempted to use different varieties and methods of incorporating them into my images. This piece in particular was an exercise in exploring a lesser seen flower in photography by featuring it with the simplicity of a nude portrait, accompanied by intricately designed hair that would compliment the flowers as a whole.
