ARTIST STATEMENT

Felix Hernandez is a visionary photographer and visual storyteller based in Cancún, Mexico, internationally recognized for transforming everyday objects and miniature models into epic, cinematic worlds. Through his distinctive artistic approach — known as Dreamphography — he combines handcrafted models, practical effects, and photography to create scenes that blur the line between fantasy and reality.

Working primarily with scale models, toys, and custom-built environments, Hernandez constructs entire universes by hand before capturing them through his lens. Snowstorms are created with flour, explosions with carefully shaped cotton and smoke, and oceans are formed from richly textured materials. His work celebrates imagination, craftsmanship, and the magic of storytelling through tangible, hands-on creation.

Rather than relying solely on digital manipulation, Hernandez emphasizes physical creation — building props, sculpting landscapes, and experimenting with light and texture. The result is imagery that feels authentic, cinematic, and emotionally compelling.
