THE STORY BEHIND
Wonderland is a breathtaking story of how profound grief can be transformed into a powerful and deeply moving journey—one that resonates with everyone who experiences it. The exhibition has previously been featured in major museums and galleries around the world. Each scene is entirely real, with all costumes and props meticulously handcrafted by the artist herself. In some cases, a single image has taken up to five months to create and capture.
THE INDOOR SHOW
Produced and curated by UpOnWalls, the Wonderland exhibition by Kirsty Mitchell was developed as a museum-level experience, designed to fully honor the depth, detail, and emotional power of her work.
First created for Läckö Slott in Sweden, the exhibition features large-scale archival prints in custom-built museum frames. To enhance the immersive experience, Upoonwalls designed and constructed bespoke stands and modules to display original props and costumes used in the photographs — allowing visitors to step further into Mitchell’s fantastical universe.
This high-quality production blends fine art photography, costume design, and scenographic storytelling in a visually striking and emotionally resonant installation. After its premiere at Läckö Slott, the exhibition is now on show at Falsterbo Foto, continuing to captivate audiences with its theatrical scale and craftsmanship.
THE OUTDOOR VERSION
For Blokhus Sculpture Park in Denmark, we created a unique outdoor version of the Wonderlandexhibition — specially adapted to the open-air setting while maintaining the artistic integrity and immersive quality of the original.
Set within the enchanting surroundings of the sculpture park, this large-scale presentation allows visitors to experience Kirsty Mitchell’s imagery in a new and powerful way. Complemented by a dedicated film and behind-the-scenes material, the installation offers insight into the creative process behind Wonderland, guiding guests through the full story — from concept to costume to final frame.
This version of the exhibition invites viewers of all ages to explore the magic, emotion, and beauty of Wonderland in harmony with nature, bringing the fantastical world to life under the open sky.
