ARCHETYPES
WITH GABRIEL ISAK
Archetypes
Archetypes presents an exhibition with a selection of images from different collections from Gabriel Isak. Drawing inspiration from the philosophies of Carl Jung, Archetypes presents an exhibition that explores the shadow, self, persona and anima. Isak became fascinated by Jung’s philosophies after coming out of a long depression, and began to document his own experiences through Jung’s writings in his artworks. Archetypes presents anonymous figures covered in body paint, body suits and hair, focusing on the psychological message in the works, so the spectator can envision oneself as the subject and reflect back on their own experiences and journey in life. The exhibition brings the viewer on a journey where the subjects are imprisoned in monochromatic settings, exploring different personas and the interaction between the shadow, self and anima.
