THE JÄMTLAND ART COLLECTION
Ånnsjön and Storsnasen, 1462 m.ö.h.
In 1897 the English Admiral Sir William Robert Kennedy came to Ånnsjön, drawn by the fishing and hunting. An incident occurred with locals Olof and Mattias Eriksson over fishing rights, and we have the "naval battle of Ånnsjön" which was eventually settled in court.

In The Clouds

For this photograph, Darren actually stood on the town square in Åre, when he could see Polar Stratospheric Clouds.
These clouds form at 15 000 metres to 25 000 metres at higher latitudes in the winter, when the air in the atmosphere is extremly cold.

Skäckerfjällen Nature Reserve
21st May 2020
Looking out over towards Skäckerfjällen Nature Reserve. The reserve is 467 km² and was formed in 1988. Just to the east of the reserve is Kolåsen Fjällhotell. In August 1897 Winston Churchill was a guest. He is said to have enjoyed the area so much that they left all their equipment as they would return the following year, but they never did.
